Pope John Paul II Tower is an eight-story building given to the Roman Catholic Church by Bacolod real estate mogul, Simplicio Palanca.  It was developed exactly where the pope spoke to thousands of Negrenses during his historic visit on Feb 20, 1981.  The tower is the tallest structure in Bacolod, which includes a 12-ft lighted cross.  It was handed over to Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra on Feb. 18.
